FAQs

Below, you'll find some of the questions we commonly receive from students. We hope you find the answers helpful and informative.

Submitting Application/Request for Placement

Q: What do I do if I do not see my facility in the Entity area?
A:
If you did not find your Facility when you searched for it, then leave that field blank and you can continue with the application. The information will be reviewed by your school and if that facility is approved, you will be notified via ACEMAPP with an approved application and a rotation will be created.

Q: How do I know what clinical facilities are connected to my school?
A: Once you are connected to your school, you can click the Directory tab, then Entities, and see the full list of available clinical facilities for your school.

Rotation/Scheduling Questions:

Q: How do I create/submit a rotation request.
A:
You can submit a rotation application to your school coordinators. If you have your clinical site, please check and see if they are listed in the Entity area. If you have a Preceptor, you can also check to see if they are already listed. If so, please select them when you submit your application. If they are not listed, you can include the information in the application form.

Q: How do I know my rotation has been approved?
A: Once your application has been approved, you will receive an email and a rotation will be automatically created for you. Once you see this rotation, you can attend this placement. Please be sure to make sure your requirements are completed (see user guide for details on competing requirements).

Q: The wrong Preceptor is assigned to my rotation, what should I do? A: Reach out to your school, they will be able to update the Preceptor assignment.

Q: What should my Preceptor be doing in ACEMAPP? A: Your Preceptor will need to have an ACEMAPP account, so that they can review time logs and complete any appropriate evaluations.

Requirement Questions:

Q: How do I know which requirements are required or optional?
A:
If you see a red X, then that requirement is required. If there is a gray dash, then those requirements are optional. If you see a green checkmark then that requirement has been completed. You are responsible for uploading these documents, They are not automatically uploaded by your school. You must upload these documents even though you have already submitted them to the school when you registered for classes.

Q: I have uploaded my requirements, but there is still a red X. How do I complete those?
A:
Once you upload your documents, you will wait for approval by your school. Your school will review these items closer to your rotation start date. If information is missing for any requirements, you will receive an email to update those items. You will receive incomplete emails until the documents are approved (see more details in the question below).

Q: I have uploaded the documents, but I am still receiving emails that I need to submit the required documents.
A:
If you have submitted all of your required documentation, please ignore the emails stating you have incomplete items. These are auto-generated from ACEMAPP and your school's program administrator can verify these documents, they will still appear to be incomplete. Please be patient with us as all NP tracks were added at one time so we have a back-log of documents to review.

Q: ACEMAPP is asking for professional liability insurance. Do I need to purchase professional liability insurance?
A:
No! This is provided to you as a student of UAB School of Nursing. A copy of the professional liability insurance is uploaded in your NUR 004 course. If you can not find it, please reach out to your track coordinators.

Q: I do not see the correct affiliation in my dashboard. What should I do?
A:
Please be sure to check your affiliation page in ACEMAPP to see if this is pending for you. Here are instructions on reviewing your affiliations. If you do not have any pending affiliations, you can contact your faculty advisor and let them know which affiliation/track is missing.

Getting Started/Logging in Questions:

Q: I have not received an email to join ACEMAPP. What do I need to do?
A: You should first check your junk/spam folder of your uab.edu email box. If it is not there, please email your track coordinator your name, UAB email, your cohort (semester you started the program), and if you are an MSN or BSN-DNP student.

Q: I am a dual student (dual PNP, ENP/FNP, etc.) and I only see one program on my account, what should I do?
A: Please be sure to check your affiliation page in ACEMAPP to see if this is pending for you. Here is how you can check that area in ACEMAPP. If you do not have any pending affiliations, you can contact your faculty advisor and let them know which affiliation/track is missing.

Case and/or Time Log Questions:

Q: I can not find my Preceptor when submitting case or time logs, what should I do? A: If you are unable to find your Preceptor, please double check that your Preceptor is assigned to your rotation (Rotations table, then Edit). If the Preceptor is not assigned to your rotation, please reach out to your school.

Q: I am assigned to two rotations, which number should I submit by logs under? A: Make sure you are submitting your case and time logs to the Precepted Rotation. Also, your Preceptor would be assigned to this rotation as well.
