Application Instructions

As a graduate student at UAB, you are required to submit a rotation application to your school coordinators to request a placement. This will include a clinical site and preceptor if you have one. This will allow your school coordinator to review the information and approve the request, if possible.

If you would like the ability to bank your clinical hours, you may also submit a separate application specific to that request.

Below, you'll find detailed instructions on how to submit rotation applications in ACEMAPP.

Step 1 - Check the directory
You may start by checking the ACEMAPP directory for your clinical site and preceptor. To do this, navigate to your student homepage, click the 'Directory' tab, then select 'Entities' and review the list. Next, click the same 'Directory' tab, then click 'Members' to view the list of preceptors. If your site and/or preceptor is not listed, that is ok, you may provide your school with this information in the application.

Step 2 - Search for your application
From your homepage, click the More tab, then Applications. Click the View All Available button. Type in UAB in the search box, locate the application specific to your specialty. Then click the blue I button in the Actions column.

Step 3 - Verify & begin application
Review the description, make sure it is the appropriate application, then click 'Apply'.

Step 4 - Indicate preceptor/clinical partner
If you were able to find your clinical partner, type the name as it appeared in ACEMAPP in the 'Partner Entity' box. If you were able to find your Preceptor, type their name in the 'Include another individual on a rotation' box. Once you start typing the name, the option to select them will appear. If your site or preceptor is not listed, you may leave these blank.

Step 5 - Indicate timeline and details
Enter your requested rotation start and end date. Indicate if you have confirmed this preceptor directly with them as well as the course this placement is for. Click 'Save'.

Step 6 - Complete additional information
Complete all of the application fields to the best of your ability. If you will have multiple preceptors, you will have multiple sections to put each preceptor's information in. If you only have one preceptor, you can enter N/A in the 'ADDITIONAL PRECEPTOR OF RECORD' section. Complete all information and click 'Save'.

Step 7 - Await decision
Your school will review this request. If you can attend this placement, the application will be approved and a rotation will be created. You will be notified of this via an email from ACEMAPP. Please note, your requirements may not be reviewed by your school until close to your requested rotation's start date. Be sure to upload all required documents into ACEMAPP for approval in the meantime.
