Create A Password

ACEMAPP follows industry standards for password security and utilizes a password strength meter, which requires passwords to be at a minimum strength of 2 (out of 4). The system will dynamically show you the password score as you type and will provide feedback.

Your password/passphrase must meet the following criteria:

Decide what you want your password to be. See the criteria outlined below.

  1. Minimum of 8 characters.
  2. A score of 2 or better (out of 4).
  3. Your name cannot be part of the password.

ACEMAPP recommends using passphrases, which are more secure and easier to remember than a password.

  • For instance, the passphrase IreallyloveACEMAPP! is far easier to remember than Ac3M4pp!.

Make A Strong Password

Recently, the U.S.government changed its password recommendations from picking a phrase or word and replacing a couple of characters with a few symbols. While this may be difficult for humans to read, it is rather easy for computers. Instead, you want a long string or phrase that people nor computers can guess.

It is best to have a long string of words, with a few capital letters and symbols added. However, do not use famous movie lines, Bible verses, or even an acronym of a Bible verse. This text is readily known and can be entered into hackers "dictionary attacks."

Random words, which seem random to you, are still easily guessed by computers. Such is "brown monkey dragon princess ball." Instead, use something like "HEROXbox computer1aptopGALLERY", which would be hard for humans and computers to guess.

Above all, do not share your password. Also, do not store your passwords in your browser. Use a Password Manager like LastPass, Dashlane, or Symantec Norton Identity Safe.
