Coordinator's Corner: Prioritizing Reporting & Collaboration

Coordinators Corner

Tracking success is crucial for managing clinical education experiences, but it can be difficult for clinical education coordinators responsible for so many logistics. Dawn Pauli, Director of Student Engagement and Clinical Placement Liaison at Wayne State University, has managed clinical education for 8 years. In that time, she's honed in on several strategies, emphasizing the importance of ACEMAPP reporting and member meetings.

Reporting Ensures Confidence in Compliance
"You have to be super organized and flexible," emphasizes Pauli. Managing clinical education requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances swiftly.

Utilizing tools like the Clinical Rotation Report is central to Pauli's role. This report provides compliance information and serves as a daily resource for her in the weeks leading up to clinical placements. Pauli utilizes the report to communicate essential details to students and faculty, facilitating smooth transitions into clinical settings.

Apart from the Clinical Rotation Report, Pauli finds other data-driven tools invaluable for managing clinical rotations. For instance, reports on flu shots, TB tests, and unit availability play a significant role in her workflow. These reports enable her to ensure that students meet all necessary health requirements and that appropriate clinical placements are secured.

Networking and Collaboration Are Key
"The in-person meetings organized by ACEMAPP are extremely helpful and go a long way in creating relationships with our partners," says Pauli. "Those meetings are just as important as the software."

ACEMAPP sometimes hosts in-person or virtual member meetings for regions using ACEMAPP as a group or consortium. These meetings act as opportunities for school and clinical site members to network with colleagues and discuss regional topics, such as how to better streamline requirements for participating students.

Even when members do not attend these meetings, ACEMAPP works hard to create opportunities in the platform to foster effective collaboration within the clinical education landscape.

Takeaways
Dawn Pauli's experience sheds light on the essential components of successful clinical education management. From leveraging data-driven reports to prioritizing interpersonal connections through member meetings, her approach underscores the multifaceted nature of her role as a coordinator. As clinical education continues to evolve, adopting these best practices can pave the way for enhanced student learning experiences and strengthened partnerships.

Over time, staff roles can shift, and unused administrative accounts may remain active. To maintain security and keep your organization’s account running smoothly, admin accounts with no login activity for one year will automatically be removed from ACEMAPP. Regularly updating your admin list helps ensure that important notifications, scheduling updates, and organizational changes reach the right people.
